Purpose
- To empower the youth and children of Mariannridge with an opportunity to study and practice what interests them in the area of fine arts, performing arts, dance and music.
- The Academy aspires to link youths to relevant bodies in the greater eThekwini area in order to further education.
Selection Process
All members of the community of Mariannridge and surrounding areas are welcome to join the Arts Academy. The Academy runs according to a strict code of conduct.

Current Curriculum - Art
- Drama
- Dance
- Piano - individual sessions
- Drum lessons - individual sessions
- Guitar lessons - individual sessions
Ultimate Goal
To establish a professional, self sustained academy that will raise up and empower the next generation.
Achievements thus far: - The students performed in the first of what will be their annual show in November 2007, held outside the community. Their second show was held in November of 2008 in the community hall. Various art, dance and music shows were held during the course of 2009 where the pupils were able to shocase their talents.
- They also participated in a Poetry and Story-telling Festival, which was assessed by the South African Speech and Drama Association.
- Selected youth were invited to perform at a Gala Evening Fundraising Dinner for Transformation Mariannridge as well as at another organization's fundraiser.
- One of the students has been developed to become the Drama teacher to replace the current teacher.
- The existing Drama teacher has been promoted to head up the entire Academy of Arts.
