Purpose

To bring about a general change in attitude and action in regards to social and moral responsibility of individuals towards community.

 

Value Added
  • Gaining support and involvement from community members in activities that will make their community a more caring and livable environment.
  • To aid public support bodies such as the police, municipality, schools and local councillors.
  • Establishing a positive and progressive culture of unity, mutuality and excellence in the community.
Soup Kitchen
  • A Soup Kitchen operates once a week, which feeds an average of 150 youth and adults. Plans to grow this into catering for more than three times the number are in progress. Sponsorship is also given to another soup kitchen which operates from one of the schools in the community.
Feeding Schemes
  • Basic foods are distributed to needy families and in some cases food is provided on a daily basis. Aid is provided to feeding schemes at the schools.  
Forums
  • Relationships have been forged with various other forums and community aid organisations.
Minister's Fraternal
  • Involvement in Mariannridge Ministers Fraternal (includes 8 churches in the area) and involvement in joint functions such as the Global Prayer Day and Community Clean-Up. Further initiatives include the supporting of Matriculants in Exams and Youth Against Abuse.
Teaching Seminars
  • Teaching seminars on topics such as Marriage, Parenting, Sexual Purity and abstinence, Personal Choices, Relationships and Overcoming the Past and Life Skills.
Schools/Learning/Teaching
  • An informal supportive relationship has been developed with both the Primary and High Schools in Mariannridge to support the work of the teachers and principals. Aid is given to the schools in the form of counseling and life skills classes.
  • Classes have been introduced for learners in Mathematics, Physics and Accounting

Ultimate Goal

Having all Mariannridge residents involved in, and aware of, community care and responsibility.
